Extraordinary Badminton coach

Created by Keith 2 years ago
Robert, or as our generation of badminton players called him, Bob, started out as a tennis player and was one of the best in the south-west of england. At 27 he started playing badminton and became exceptionally good at that as well.

He ran "centre of excellence" sessions at Redwood Lodge as well as coaching the county squad in Wells for years. Many, many players profited from his insight and knowledge.
He had the ability to spot ways to improve a player's stroke without altering their style too much.

He improved me enormously as a player and I can still remember many of those fun sessions on a Tuesday evening at Redwood Lodge as I'm sure do my peers.

I was the coach in Valence, France for 7 years and I realised that nearly all the things I taught came originally from him!

I had and still have tremendous and affectionate respect for Bob and everything he achieved in badminton. He will always live on in my memory.

RIP Bob.
